HOW WE USE THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND THE REASONS WE SHARE IT

UK & EU DATA PROTECTION — HOW THIS WORKS IN PRACTICE
London Reporting Academy Limited (company number 14632379, registered in England and Wales) is the controller of the personal data described in this Policy. For privacy and data-protection enquiries, contact legalenquiry@reporting.academy.
Personal data we collect. When you enquire or enrol, we collect your name, email address, phone number and organisation; the course and format you are interested in; how you reached us (campaign, referring website or AI assistant, and landing page); your language and approximate location; and, after purchase, your payment confirmation, learner record and progress. Card details are handled by our payment processor and are not stored by us.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis. To deliver a course, manage your account and respond to enquiries (performance of a contract, or steps taken before a contract); to run, secure and improve our site and Services and to understand how learners reach us (our legitimate interests); to send marketing where you have agreed or where permitted, with an opt-out in every message (consent or legitimate interests); to set non-essential cookies and similar technologies (your consent — see the Cookie Policy); and to meet tax, accounting and other legal obligations (legal obligation).
Who we share it with. We use trusted service providers acting on our instructions: Stripe (payment processing); the Study Studio learning platform, hosted on DigitalOcean (to give you access and record your progress); Google and Hotjar (website analytics and session replay); Termly (cookie-consent management); Google Workspace (email delivery); and internal team-notification tooling. We may also disclose data where required by law or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. We do not sell your personal data.
International transfers. Some providers process data outside the UK and EEA. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards — including the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) and Standard Contractual Clauses — as described in our European and UK Personal Data Collection Disclosure.
How long we keep it. Enquiry and lead data: up to 24 months from your last contact, unless you ask us to erase it sooner. Account and learning records: for as long as you have access, plus a reasonable period afterwards. Payment, invoice and tax records: six years, as required by UK law. After these periods we delete or anonymise the data.
Your rights. Subject to certain conditions, you can ask us to give you access to your data, correct it, erase it, restrict or object to our use of it, or provide it in a portable form; and you can withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, contact legalenquiry@reporting.academy. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), ico.org.uk, although we would welcome the chance to address your concern first.
Security. We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, and we require our service providers to do the same. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
OTHER IMPORTANT PRIVACY INFORMATION
Below you will find additional privacy information you may find important.
Use for personalisation and pedagogical improvements
We aim to provide current and future users of each service with the best possible educational experience. We may conduct research intended to enhance LRA’s instructional offerings and the quality of learning and related sciences more generally. To further these goals, we sometimes present different users with different versions of programme materials and software. We do this to personalise the experience to the individual learner (assess the learner's level of ability and learning style, and present materials best suited to the learner), to evaluate the effectiveness of our programme materials, to improve our understanding of the learning process, and otherwise to improve the effectiveness of our offerings and teaching and learning more generally. We may publish or otherwise publicise results from this process, but will only share Personally Identifiable Information as otherwise permitted under this Privacy Policy.
